Haunted Mansion
Industrial Light & Magic (ILM)
The visual effects work on Haunted Mansion ranges from seamless set extensions to hero magical characters and ghosts to various eye-popping water and destruction FX, all designed to pay tribute to the much beloved Disney ride.
Globally, ILM delivered over 1000 shots on Haunted Mansion and created over 140 assets - ILM’s Sydney studio took the lead and worked together with the company’s Singapore, London, San Francisco, and Vancouver studios. There was a wide breadth of work on this show. Our talented team created everything from the villain Hatbox Ghost to the giant build of the entire environment of Gracey Grounds and cemetery, the spooky Gracey Mansion itself, the domineering Crump Mansion, a ghost giant wave that washes our hero out of his own house onto the street and many other varied effects. Among the assets ILM designed and built were full hero digi-doubles, multiple furred animals, crowds of skeleton ghosts, an MC Escher style set, impossible rotating and infinite hallways, a complete ocean surface, and much more.
