City of Sydney – New Years Eve 2025 - Calling Country

VANDAL partnered with We Are Warriors and the City of Sydney to deliver the animated visual content for the 9pm Calling Country projection, opening the night’s celebrations as Sydney stepped into 2026. Created in collaboration with First Nations artists Aaron Kennedy and Shaun Daniel Allen (Shal), the ceremony transformed Sydney Harbour into a powerful canvas for story, culture and renewal. Designed to respond directly to the soundtrack and fireworks choreography, VANDAL’s visuals unfolded across the harbour through glowing animals, native plants and symbolic forms of transformation. Each sequence was crafted to amplify the emotional rhythm of the ceremony, connecting audience, Country and sky through bold visual storytelling. Through close collaboration with We Are Warriors, VANDAL helped create a striking public projection that honoured First Nations creativity and cultural knowledge, setting a meaningful tone for the celebrations that followed and bringing depth, beauty and cultural resonance to one of Australia’s most-watched moments.
