The Sydney team delivered approximately 450 shots for the show, of which approximately half involved the animation team. Mat and his animation team were integral to the show's success, delivering hero creature and character performances of the D&D lore based on much-loved creatures. Within the arena maze sequence were the Displacer Beast, the Mimic Monster, and the Gelatinous Cube, and outside of the arena were the Golden Dragon, the Owl Bear, and a battle between the Arcane vs Earthen Hand. Throughout the show, it was important to the directors, Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, to always be true to the D&D characters, and even though it's a magical world, there needed to be a physicality connection to reality as well.
