VANDAL Gallery - UNSAID
VANDAL
UNSAID was a photographic exhibition by Rhiannon Abshoff, featuring photographs by Jacqui Turner, that shared the raw, lived experience of breast cancer. Diagnosed at just 32 with no family history and no warning signs, Rhiannon began documenting her journey through diagnosis, treatment and survivorship, using photography, phone footage and social media to make sense of an experience few are ever prepared for. To deepen audience understanding, VANDAL created an interactive touchscreen experience that allowed visitors to explore Rhiannon’s journey through a series of edited chapters. Drawing from her personal phone camera footage and social media content, each chapter revealed a different aspect of the cancer experience, from the clinical and physical to the emotional and deeply personal. As an education-focused experience, the touchscreen transformed intimate personal documentation into an accessible, human-centred tool for awareness, reflection and connection, helping audiences engage with the realities of illness often left unspoken.
