Netflix’s Ripley is a stylish psychological thriller that follows the manipulative Tom Ripley as he weaves a web of lies and deceit across 1960s Italy and America. ReDefine delivered 512 VFX shots across all eight episodes, with the majority of work centred on high-end compositing. This included 2D background replacements, blood effects, clean-up work, extended matte paintings, and the integration of CG environments, water, fire, and various digital assets. A major sequence in Episode 3 involved creating a fully CG cove environment, including realistic water and fire simulations, across 53 shots. The team also digitally recreated key locations such as Naples train station and the New York subway. In total, 66 unique CG assets were developed and used throughout the series.
