AEAF is a celebration of VFX and Animation Games and Immersive media. AEAF includes a Speaker Program, Awards evening and technology showcase.
The AEAF Speaker Program will be presented as a video conference over three days, 18-20 August, plus one day of live speaker presentations 20 August in Sydney. Following a packed day of talks from the leading lights of the VFX industry, the AEAF Awards Night is a celebration of the best work by digital artists artists from around the world.
AEAF’s speakers include VFX Supervisors, Animation and Creative Directors, who will enlighten the industry with new, creative approaches to their work and insights into the projects they have contributed to.
The Speaker Program is a series of talks from digital artists who work in disciplines ranging from design and motion graphics to VFX and character/FX animation. Short Q&A sessions follow each presentation. Some talks include R&D and supervision, but the emphasis at AEAF is on production-side techniques and processes. Their work always relates to recent, well-known projects spanning feature films TV, commercials, online productions.
AEAF is an international competition and screening and speaker program, now in its 24th year with entries from around the world.
The Awards are given for creative and technical excellence in the use of visual effects and animation in the creation of screened work. The judging criteria include the technical skill, artistry and quality of the visual effects and animation, their appropriateness within the project as a whole, and their contribution to storytelling.

Screening & Awards Night
Winning entries receive the specially commissioned Award and, most important, exposure through the screening of the entries, the Online Festival, press coverage including the Showcase issue of Digital Media World Magazine and the recognition of the digital content creation, animation and VFX communities. Entrants to the AEAF Awards have the opportunity to show their projects in the AEAF Online Festival.
The AEAF Awards are open to all digital content creators and motion graphics, digital video, animation and effects professionals and students. Previous winners of the AEAF Awards are among the world's premier post-production companies, effects houses and film studios.
