Lovecraft Country - Season 1 – Environments

Rodeo FX

rodeofx.com

DESCRIPTION

Lovecraft Country is a completely unique blend of horror, fantasy, sci fi, and scathing social commentary.

The show is exceptional for many reasons, but one of the primary reasons is that each episode tells a different story using a different genre and Rodeo was invited to play in all of these playgrounds! Right from the moment the show kicks off, when Atticus and Ji-Ah face a Lovecraftian creature, the audience (and the artists who worked on it!) know that we’ve landed somewhere strange and unconventional.

It was the enduring hard work and creativity of our teams that helped bring this wild, unpredictable show to life.
How much work are we talking about? Well, our contribution covered 17 months of production, 1218 shots and roughly 160,229 logged hours. This gargantuan task covered scary monsters to spectacular environments; major historical events to cosmic journeys; realistic fire and destruction to magical portals and spells; 2D wizardry to complete CG creations, and from concept art to final shots.

Tales from the Loop  Season 1

Rodeo FX

DESCRIPTION

One of the distinct joys of doing the visual effects for Amazon’s new show Tales from the Loop was
turning stunning artwork into realistically animated 3D assets and unique environments. The nostalgic, neo-futuristic (it takes place in an alternate version of the late 1980s) is based on Swedish artist Simon
Stålenhag’s award-winning artbook of the same name. We had the honour of being the lead vendor for all eight episodes of Tales from the Loop.

We developed a range of assets including three moving robots, one static robot and a mechanical hand as well as several environments both full and enhanced. We helped bring Stålenhag’s paintings to life, combining visions of rural Sweden with sometimes mundane and scrappy sci-fi elements. contemplative fashion on screen.

In the end, we had over 700 shots for two hours of screen time, a new record for Rodeo FX.
The shots contained many complex elements, some up to two minutes, playing out in a slow and contemplative fashion on screen. In the end, we had over 700 shots for two hours of screen time, a new record for Rodeo FX
