Green Gravel

- Coding Mind-Body Dualism is an experiment, which relates stop motion animated painting to a virtual environment within a 3D mapped kinetic gallery installation. Exploring the role of the artist’s hand in creating a sense of human presence within code-based virtual art, the research and studio outcomes demonstrate the critical importance of intuition-led gestural painting as a means to instill a sense of human presence into the viewer experience of algorithmic art.

Precision Signs was recently afforded a unique opportunity by one of their clients, the Hellenic Club, Canberra to produce a custom animation for a large LED video feature wall they had previously installed at their establishment. The Hellenic Club gave them reasonable freedom to imprint some of our own style into the animation. With a combination of licensed stock models, custom models and using Cinema 4D’s basic deformer tools exclusively, they set about giving life to a myriad of sea creatures and plant life. For this project we used C4D Visualise and After Effects for comping.

The video wall is a major feature in the public gaming area of the club.

In a world where colour is a commodity, we meet a young girl who bleeds riches of glowing colour. Fighting to escape the claws of oppression she flees across the wall to bring balance. Beyond the wall she finds the forgotten city, long since stripped of colour. A chase across the rooftops begins as colour bleeds beneath her feet. On the roof of the city's cathedral, with the sun rising, she turns to take a stand.
