DESCRIPTION

The Wall Street Journal’s anthemic spot hammers home the importance of honest
news in a world overrun with noise and misinformation. The team crafted a satirical
and pointed commentary on the digital world using a strategic combination of
practical effects and seamless VFX. In order to create a visually engaging story, the
focus became about implementing in-camera solutions to minimize the number of
shots that required compositing.
In preparation for the shoot, the team tested every detail, most notably the technical
limitations of filming LED screens with different high-speed cameras. They worked
with the camera and SFX crew to develop a range of solutions that captured various
explosions and LED content so that itwould play at the exact speed necessary, while
taking frame rates into account.
