Our team completed 244 shots for Crawl, directed by Alexandre Aja and produced by Sam Raimi, which we delivered in a tight three-month post-production schedule. Our artists gave life to the killer alligators that invade Coral Lake, a Florida town that is flooded during a hurricane.
Following Aja’s vision, we made the gators realistic and menacing, and worked with the director on key creative decisions, including making the movements of the alligator slow and measured as they move towards the main characters to build the tension. Along with the CG alligators, our team also created CG environments and water simulations for the thriller, using set extensions and set dressing we added windswept trees and recreated stormy skies and flooded environments in compositing.
